John 21:6
Evangelist Rodney Barnett and his wife, Vicki, are in full time ministry and active in several areas of missions according to their calling. Rodney was a former night club musician who played the guitar and sang in the local beer joints and bars. In 1970 falling under conviction of sin, he received salvation. Being born again he put away his guitar and became a disciple and student of the word of God.
Urban Harvest Ministries, Inc. shall proclaim the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In obedience to God's Word, Urban Harvest Ministries, Inc. shall engage in evangelism wherever people are regardless of their social, economical or racial status. With the inner city urban area as a prime directive we seek to minister to the homeless, hungry and poor that need clothing, transients and in general hopeless people. It is our conviction to minister God's message of love and forgiveness and hope of eternal salvation, which may only come by and through Jesus Christ the Lord. While our main target is the inner city, Urban Harvest Ministries shall seek to evangelize other poor neighborhoods, parks, beach areas, schools, parades and any other area including foreign missions. It is our conviction that Urban Harvest Ministries, Inc. follow Jesus Christ in the ministry He outlined in Matthew 25:31-46. We shall also remember to care for and minister to widows and the fatherless.
In obedience to God's Word, the great commission, Matthew 28:18-19, commands us to go and tell, make disciples and to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. By example Christ teaches us to go to the highways, by-ways and hedges, or to the streets as well as the church buildings where God's people meet.
In Matthew 25, Jesus explained a six point outline for true ministry. It includes the hungry, thirsty, naked, strangers (homeless), sick and those in prison. Urban harvest Ministries will minister Jesus in these areas as the doors of opportunity open.
It is important that Urban harvest Ministries remains free to move spontaneously, as the Holy Spirit leads, into innovative ways to preach Christ and minister hope to the poor. This includes block parties, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and operating a prison ministry and helping relieve the homeless. In part this is done by meeting these people on their ground and at their point of need.
Urban Harvest Ministries uses these opportunities to disciple and train other believers into a hands on ministry by integrating them into each one's respective call and gifts, to minister according to 2 Timothy 2:2.
